Marital status
Marital status at baseline
Marital status at baseline is assessed using two items. Participants are first asked if they have ever been married. Negative responses are coded as 1=never married. Participants who respond affirmatively are asked a follow-up question about marital status; responses are coded to values 2-5 below.
- Have you ever been married? Yes; No
- Are you now married, separated, divorced, or widowed? Married; Separated; Divorced; Widowed
