Memory trouble
Presence of memory complaints

Memory complaints are based on the following two questions:

  1. About how often do you have trouble remembering things? 1 = Very often, 2 = Often, 3 = Sometimes, 4 = Rarely, 5 = Never
  2. Compared to 10 years ago, would you say that your memory is much worse, a little worse, the same, a little better, or much better? 1 = Much worse, 2 = A little worse, 3 = The same, 4 = A little better, 5 = Much better

Answer values for both questions are then flipped so that higher values indicate more frequent or worse memory. The total score is the sum of the two flipped values, with scores of 8-10 classified as memory complaints.
