Early life SES
Early life socioeconomic status - Average of 3 items

Early life socioeconomic status (SES) is a composite index based on three indicators of household SES level at the baseline interview:

  1. Paternal education (number of years)
  2. Maternal education (number of years)
  3. Number of children in the family

The number of children is multiplied by negative 1, and all indicators are z-scored. The composite measure of early life SES is the average of the three z-scores.

Note: This version of the variable has not been published. The associated reference describes a related measure of early life SES.
