Income level at age 40 (10-level)

Income level at age 40 was measured at the baseline interview via a single question. Persons were asked to select one of ten levels of total family income using the 'show-card' method.

Participants were asked the following question:

Which of these income groups represents your personal income when you were 40 years old? Include income from all sources such as wages, salaries, social security or retirement benefits, help from relatives, rent from property, and so forth.
