AD neuropathologic change (2 levels)
AD neuropathologic change based on NIA-AA criteria - 2 levels

AD neuropathologic change (2 levels) is the dichotomized version of the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer's Association criteria for the pathologic diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. See NIA-AA diagnosis of AD - 4 levels for more information.

The neuropathologist determines the level of AD pathology. Those with intermediate or high likelihood fulfill criteria for having a pathologic diagnosis of AD.

ValueCoding
1AD present by NIA-AA pathology criteria (high or intermediate likelihood)
0AD not present by NIA-AA pathology criteria (low likelihood or no AD)

This is the most up-to-date consensus pathologic diagnosis for AD. This variable replaces "ad_reagan", which was based on NIA-Reagan diagnostic criteria.
