AD neuropathologic change (4 levels)
The updated National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer's Association criteria is based on consensus recommendations for postmortem diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The criteria rely on a combination of neurofibrillary tangles (Braak), neuritic plaque score (CERAD), and Amyloid beta plaque score (Thal). The neuropathologist determines the level of AD pathology.
Value | Likelihood of AD | DICHOTOMIZED (AD_adnc) |
---|---|---|
0 | No AD | 0 |
1 | Low | 0 |
2 | Intermediate | 1 |
3 | High | 1 |
See AD neuropathologic change - 2 levels for the dichotomized version of this variable.
This variable replaces "niareagansc", which was based on NIA-Reagan diagnostic criteria.
