Neuritic plaque (CERAD) score is based on a semiquantitative measure of neuritic plaques (see CERAD score). A neuropathologic diagnosis was made based on semiquantitative estimates of neuritic plaque density as recommended by the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease (CERAD), modified to be implemented without adjustment for age and clinical diagnosis. Diagnosis includes algorithm and neuropathologist’s opinion, blinded to age and all clinical data.
| Value | Coding | ceradsc value |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | No neuritic plaques | 4 = No AD |
| 1 | Sparse neuritic plaques | 3 = Possible AD |
| 2 | Moderate neuritic plaques | 2 = Probable AD |
| 3 | Frequent neuritic plaques | 1 = Definite AD |
