Presence of Lewy bodies in 7 regions (includes amygdala)

This variable replaces lb_7reg.

Presence of Lewy bodies (7 regions) is identified by immunohistochemistry with α-synuclein (Zymed Laboratories, LB509; 1:100) with alkaline phosphatase as the color developer. Since 2011, immunohistochemistry has been performed with Phosphorylated α-Synuclein (Ser129) Monoclonal Antibody (Wako Chemicals USA, pSyn#64, 1:20,000).

The following 7 regions are examined:

  1. Substantia nigra
  2. Entorhinal cortex
  3. Anterior cingulate cortex
  4. Midfrontal cortex
  5. Superior or middle temporal cortex
  6. Inferior parietal cortex
  7. Amygdala
