This variable replaces lb_7reg.

Presence of Lewy bodies (7 regions) is identified by immunohistochemistry with alpha-synuclein (Zymed, LB509; 1:50) using the avidin-biotin method with alkaline phosphatase as the color developer. The following 7 regions are examined:

1. Substantia nigra
2. Entorhinal cortex
3. Anterior cingulate cortex
4. Midfrontal cortex
5. Superior or middle temporal cortex
6. Inferior parietal cortex
7. Amygdala

Note: Regions 1, 2, and 7 must be assessed in order for this variable to be equal to zero (i.e., regions cannot be missing).
