Anger is the general disposition to experience anger. The variable is assessed using 10 items from the State-Trait Anger Scale.
Participants are asked to respond yes = 1 or no = 0 to each of 10 items. Anger is the number of items answered in the direction indicative of the trait and ranges from 0 to 10. Higher scores indicate more anger.
Participants are presented the following items:
- I am quick tempered.
- I get angry when I am slowed down by others' mistakes.
- I am a hotheaded person.
- I feel annoyed when I am not given recognition for doing good work.
- When I am mad, I say nasty things.
- I have a fiery temper.
- It makes me furious when I am criticized in front of others.
- I fly off the handle.
- When I get frustrated, I feel like hitting someone.
- I feel infuriated when I do a good job and get a poor evaluation.
